😱 Revealed: Chelsea tracking TWO world class talents that would revolutionise their squad
This would be some statement by Chelsea...
Chelsea are reported to have Napoli striker Victor Osimhen and Bayern Munich midfielder Jamal Musiala as among the targets on their radar at the moment, according to our expert columnists at the Daily Briefing.
We’ve seen the Blues spend a lot on some big names under Todd Boehly’s ownership, with the likes of Raheem Sterling, Mykhaylo Mudryk, Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo, as well as numerous others, all joining the club in the last year and a half.
So what could we see from Chelsea next? According to Ben Jacobs in his column yesterday, the west London giants are keeping an eye on Osimhen’s situation as it looks like his future at Napoli remains uncertain.
Osimhen opportunity for Chelsea?
“Right now there are plenty of clubs interested in Osimhen, including Chelsea and PSG,” Jacobs wrote in yesterday’s piece.
However, he added that it won’t necessarily be easy to get Napoli to sell for anything other than crazy money in the middle of the season, even if the Nigeria international isn’t entirely happy with life under current manager Rudi Garcia.
“Napoli do have two concerns … The first is Osimhen hasn’t signed a new two-year deal which has been on the table all summer. That means his contract expires in 2025 and thus buyers will be on red alert in 2024,” Jacobs noted.
“The other factor is Osimhen hasn’t really enjoyed his football under Rudi Garcia. Napoli lost 3-1 to Fiorentina before the international break and Osimhen was substituted. This drew a fair bit of criticism from fans and not for the first time.
“A January exit can’t be totally discounted, but it wouldn’t surprise me if there’s far more of a bidding battle for Osimhen in the summer. This is simply because if De Laurentiis doesn’t want to sell in January then only totally crazy money is going to change that.”
Chelsea one of the clubs monitoring Musiala
Meanwhile, Fabrizio Romano has discussed the situation surrounding Jamal Musiala at Bayern Munich, naming Chelsea as one of the potential suitors for the Germany international despite reports emerging yesterday which focused on Liverpool.
“Liverpool have been linked with Musiala, but trust me it would not just be Liverpool, there are many important clubs around Europe keeping an eye on Musiala. Jurgen Klopp knows the player’s talent very well, but also people at Chelsea, Manchester City, and clubs in Spain, because he’s one of the best young talents in world football. So this is normal, it’s not about negotiating, it’s just about following a top young player,” Romano explained.
Still, Bayern will undoubtedly do all they can to keep this exciting young player, with Romano noting that a lack of progress over a new contract for the 20-year-old is partly due to there being so many changes at board level at the Allianz Arena in recent months.
Chelsea do, however, seem like one club who could pounce to re-sign the player who was once at their academy as a youngster.
