Toni Kroos discusses brilliant assist for Vinicius Jr. against Bayern Munich
The German midfielder showed his quality against his former club.
Bayern Munich and Real Madrid played a 2-2 draw in the first leg of their Champions League semifinal.
The clash of the titans did not disappoint as the match displayed talent, drama, unpredictability and suspense.
Both the teams combined have won a total of 20 European Cup and Champions League titles.
Midway through the first half, Vinicius Junior gave Real Madrid the lead when Toni Kroos split the Bayern defense in half with an inch-perfect assist.
However, eight minutes into the second half, Leroy Sane scored a spectacular goal close to the post, making it 1-1. Four minutes later, Harry Kane made it 2-1.
In the 57th and 83rd minutes, respectively, there was a blatant penalty for Bayern and Madrid.
Vinicius hammered the ball to Manuel Neuer's left as the Bayern goalkeeper dove to his right, displaying the same steely nerves that Kane had displayed.
There was one moment that caught the attention of the fans watching the match.
It was Kroos' assist to Vinicius that opened the scoring for Carlo Ancelotti's men.
Fabrizio Romano has reported on his X account what Kroos said about his pass to the Brazilian attacker.
Kroos said, as quoted by Romano:
"I saw that their centre backs always follow Vini Jr and I know Vini always makes runs into the space... that’s why the credit is to VinÃ".
"He opened the space. The pass was ok!".
Kroos showed his intelligence and quality with that pass and proved that class is permanent.
There is uncertainty surrounding his future at the Santiago Bernabeu at the moment but there is nothing uncertain about his quality and talent.
The German midfielder has been Real Madrid's midfield commander for a long time and his presence in the middle of the park for the La Liga leaders has guided them to several trophies.
Paris Saint-Germain will take on Borussia Dortmund in the other semifinal today and the winner of that match will come up against the winner of Bayern and Real Madrid.
The Champions League final is set to be an exciting showdown between some of the best clubs in the world right now.
Bayern Munich boss Thomas Tuchel was critical of one of his players after the match.
