New Bayern Munich boss Vincent Kompany "will become a future Man City manager"
Pep Guardiola is certain Kompany will return to Manchester one day.
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is convinced that his job will eventually be given to Vincent Kompany.
Guardiola has been in charge of City since July 2016 and his current contract runs until next summer.
The former Barcelona boss has led City to 17 trophies so far - including six Premier League titles - and has firmly established himself as a club legend.
Another man who is widely considered to be a City legend is former club captain Vincent Kompany.
Belgian Kompany won 12 trophies as a City player - including six under the guidance of Guardiola - before leaving the Etihad Stadium in 2019.
Kompany has since moved into management.
After starting his coaching career with Anderlecht, Kompany became Burnley boss in June 2022 and he is now set to be named the new manager of Bayern Munich.
Kompany has agreed to sign a three-year contract with Bayern.
Nevertheless, Guardiola is certain that his former pupil will return to Manchester one day.
As quoted by Fabrizio Romano via X.com before Saturday’s FA Cup final, Guardiola said: “Vincent Kompany will become a future Man City manager, mark my words.
“Yeah, it will happen for sure. You will call me when this is going to happen…”
Guardiola had earlier spoken highly of Kompany and claimed that he should not be judged harshly for overseeing Burnley’s recent relegation from the Premier League.
“It doesn’t matter if he was relegated with Burnley,” said Guardiola. “I have a high opinion about his work, as a person, his personality, knowledge of the game, how he handles the media… I’d be happy to see Kompany at Bayern.”
