Lampard at Chelsea would be interesting... largely responsible for bringing through a host of top-quality youth stars during his time at Stamford Bridge. But this is Chelsea ultimately going for (or hoping, at the very least) the home stretch appointment effect.

Lampard's the obvious choice to fill the gap and buy us time to make the right long-term decision (that includes the potential of Lampard staying in place). It gives us negotiating power over the German and the Spaniard (and possibly the Frenchman..) and it gives Frank the opportunity to set the record straight. Chelsea have a deep, deep, talented squad that are more than capable of getting the better of Madrid and going on the win the UCL; they just need a little something, a little Mourinho-esq something, that can tip the balance. Lampard's got the passion and the motivational skills required to move that needle.
